Poço de Neve

Description

Poço de Neve is one of many wells, based on deep excavations, covered with stone, shaped like an iglo. History says that snow and ice were stored here, and then carried in leather bags to their destination. Of these reservoirs only this one has reached our days in a good state of conservation, being located near the Pico do Areeiro at 1600 meters of altitude, it still stands, unused yet a big sign of the ancient history and ingenuity of the island folk.
