Nossa Senhora do Monte

Located top the hill that shadows the city of Funchal, Monte is a small area where many events take place along the year. The biggest event is the Festa da Nossa Senhora do Monte, centered around the main church of Monte, which goes by the same name as the celebrations. Near the church you'll also find the exotic garden, Monte Palace, that used to belong to the private estate of art collector Joe Berardo and the very traditional attraction "Carros de Cesto" (or Basket Cars), that garnered many fans along the years.
