Visiting Istanbul on a Budget

less than a minute reading

Many of us are trying to stick to a budget while traveling and in the big touristic cities like Istanbul, budgeting gets a little tougher. Finding cheap places to eat without giving up on the local tastes, enjoying the free touristic activities and staying away from places with the ''exclusive'' tourist prices help a lot when it comes to save money. Budgeting does not necessarily mean to miss out on some places to see, for example buying a museum pass in Istanbul allows you to enter many museums on a discounted price so you will only need to avoid extra charges. However, not missing out on the free entries are the real savers, such as mosques, bazaars, galleries.

When it comes to budget dining in Istanbul, the biggest advice I would give you is to stay away from the touristic areas. Once you compare the prices you will see the difference yourself. For as less as 3 liras you can enjoy a local street food and do not forget about your tea, many restaurants offer free cup of tea after meals :) Whether you are visiting multiple locations in one holiday or just came to see Istanbul staying on budget is important for the survival after the holiday. Just look out for deals and you are in Turkey so bargain for everything!
