1 minutes to read

Maybe not the highest but officially the largest mountain (range) in Croatia Velebit. Somehow amazing and so powerful-looking mountain. It feels like Velebit rises up from Adriatic Sea and heading to the sky. Its highest peak is on aprox. 1750 meters above sea level. Velebit is home for Velebit Nature Park and two national parks: Paklenica National Park and Sjeverni Velebit National Park.

We all need to know if it’s going to rain or the day will be sunny. One of the most important service information – the weather forecast; for citizens of Croatia comes from Velebit mountain - measurement station is located on the Velebit mountain. Beside this, Velebit Nature park is the biggest protected area in Croatia – more than 2000 km2. Also what is very precious is that this nature park is protected by UNESCO under the project World Biosphere Reserve. Velebit Nature park, since it’s so big, offers many opportunities for active tourism. Hiking and cycling are highly recommended. Also, educational tours are available so one can learn more about fauna and flora while passionate speleologist can discover the deepest cave in Croatia.
