Sorry I was gone for a short while, but I’m back and with an encore! This article is the follow up of a previous one I wrote some time back, in which I select some of my favorite places around Lisbon to have a snack, and that snack has to be really sweet! So here are some more tasty suggestions for you. I’ll follow the same structure as in the previous article, dividing the places by categories depending on the types of sweets you can find. Though, for this new one, I tried to expand more on different places around Lisbon to avoid repetition.
Crepes, Pancakes and Waffles
A go-to choice for a snacks, and very sweet ones at that, are the classic crepes, pancakes and waffles. These can be found in a big variety of places, and I do enjoy the country wide franchise of Nutella laced crepes from the Nut’ shops. But, close to Arroios, there’s BENI’s, the right place to go for some very eye catching pancakes, crepes or waffles, with a myriad of toppings.

For a bit of history and a sweet taste of the north of Portugal in the heart of Lisbon, a unmissable place is Leitaria da Quinta do Paço. Famous for its delicious éclairs that come in a great variety of flavors and where you can also find season themed ones, like for Easter, Christmas or Saint Valentine’s Day.

A big selection of pastries and cafés has opened in Lisbon recently, and shops focused on a specific sweet have been quite common to find nowadays. Some of these newer ones include the pretty (delicious) donuts from Crush Doughnuts in São Sebastião, the cheesecakes of Lxeesecake next to the hip LX Factory and the delicate macarons (with tea) from Ladurée Lisbonne, which is admittedly not very portuguese (and bit on the expensive side) but it’s a damn good snack! And it’s found in Avenida da Liberdade, the quintessential center of the capital!

In my last article I choose Nanarella as the best ice cream shop in Lisbon, and, while for me that honorable title persists, there’s also a great variety of other places where you can find delicious and different ice creams. Two of those are Davvero, in Santos, a similar concept to Nanarella, with italian-like ice cream and whipped cream, and Paletaria, a lighter/healthier choice, providing popsicles of many fruity flavors!
