It is redundant to even talk further how summer in Belgrade can be glorious and amazing. From beautiful nights at the rooftop and open air cinema, amazing fresh, green areas to bohemian quarters where you can stay drinking and singing till the morning, Belgrade during this season is really at its charming peak. But there is one thing that you definitely should not miss. One of the main treasures of Belgrade, among many, are its beautiful rivers Sava and Danube. The place where those rivers collide is something rather worth your attention. Today, I am taking you to the famous, sometimes neglected, Usce Promenade of Belgrade.

As Dusko Radovic, famous Serbian writer, once said:” Who was lucky enough to wake up this morning in Belgrade, it can be considered that he has achieved enough in his life today. Any further insistence on anything else would be immodest.” That is exactly how I felt while I was growing up in Belgrade. I remember waking up on a hot,Sunday morning, excited for the amazing weather and the fact that my father was not working. For us it meant one thing – spending the day outdoors. Choices were many, and it was usually up to me to pick where we would go. Rather frequently, I always chose to go to Usce Promenade. Why you wonder? Because even as a child, I appreciated incessant green areas and the glory of two rivers. Also, there was the best spot to sit by the river, have ice cream and throw some rocks in the water. My father and I would spend hours there.

As it is really the best and the fastest way, my father and I would just hop on a bike and ride to Usce Promenade. It is quite close from the city center. As a matter of fact, it can be seen from Kalemegdan Fortress and Park. From there you have an amazing panoramic view of the two rivers colliding, as well as beautiful biking and hiking trails and parks. Also, from Usce Promenade, you may see the glorious monument called Pobednik at Kalemegdan Fortress. We would spend hours passing by those, admiring the rivers and the nature around. At Usce Promenade, you can see people from 3 to 103 years old, enjoying and taking the best out of this place. If you are less of an adventurer, Usce Promenade offers quite a lot of benches to just sit and cool off, as well as amazing picnic spots. I will reveal you a secret and tell you it is definitely not forbidden to even throw a small barbecue party there, as long as you share some of the food with people passing up. You will be amazed how people here are incredibly relaxed. It is almost the magical vibe of Usce Promenade.

In the end, Usce Promenade has quite a convenient location, as it is nearby Park of Friendship where you can go and discover the precious monuments, as well as Usce Shopping Center for those of you who love spending weekends shopping. I would suggest you to really dedicate a day for this area, breathe some fresh air and enjoy the glorious view of the rivers of Sava and Danube. Then you will realize why they are considered as the preserved gem of Belgrade.
