Description

The bridge was originally built in 1868 by the Brazilian Company Limited. Its structure was completely metallic. In 1915, it was deactivated due to its poor condition and in the same year, construction began on the bridge that would replace it. The second bridge was built under the management of Mayor Novaes Filho. Its inauguration occurred in 1943 and has its structure in reinforced concrete. It was intended for car traffic and is still operating today. It is also known to be the place where the giant Galo da Madrugada (Rooster Dawn) sculpture is built every year for the carnival period. © Elvis Boaventura
