Description

In the center of today's city center lies the market square with Neustädter Rathaus and national monument of the Brothers Grimm. The baroque building with its distinctive mansard roof was built in 1723-33 by Christian Ludwig Hermann. More than a hundred years after the founding of Neustadt and several provisional solutions (the councilors met in private homes) came on June 11, 1725 in the presence of Count Johann Reinhard III. from Hanau-Lichtenberg laying the foundation stone. The self-confidence of the Neustadt founders is reflected in the stately building. The facade is executed in red sandstone. The coat of arms of the New Town with the patron saint Hanovia, together with the year 1733, can be seen on the cast-iron balcony railing, the date of completion of the building
