Description

Located in the heart of the historic center of Grenoble, in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral, the Museum of the Old Bishopric is housed in the former bishops' palace, a building protected by historical monuments. The site has in its basement archaeological remains of primary importance, witnesses of the religious history of the city: the Baptistery dated from early Christian times. The floors of the palace, now a museum, house prestigious collections at the heart of the exhibition L'Isère en histoire. This presentation traces the great human adventure that has taken place on this territory over the centuries. Each year, temporary exhibitions offer new discoveries around the heritage of Isère and the Alps. Many animations are programmed for all. The museum entrance is free.
