Description

The MAO Oriental Art Museum opened its doors to the public in December 2008 at the Palazzo Mazzonis, eighteenth-century building converted to the museum function from the Buildings Sector for Culture of the City of Turin with a project architect construction. Andrea Bruno. The complex consists of rooms for the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, a conference room, rooms for educational activities and a bookshop. The collection of the museum includes about 1500 works, divided and distributed into five distinct "galleries", according to the historical and geographical area of ​​origin: South Asia, China, Japan, Himalayan Region, Islamic countries of Asia. The South Asia dedicated gallery displays representative works of art of Gandhara, Indian art and the arts of Southeast Asia.
