Corralejo Dunes, Fuerteventura

Description

The Dunes of Corralejo Natural Park contains a field of sands of marine origin (which come from the disintegration and pulverisation of mollusc shells and other marine organisms with external skeletons that the current has deposited on the north coast of Fuerteventura) and which lie on top of basaltic lava flows. The landscape, a sea of fine white sand dunes running parallel to the coast for approximately eight kilometres, covers an area of 2,668.7 hectares and a relief varying from 0 to 50 metres in height. © iStock/Michele Rinaldi
