It is the biggest stadium in Azerbaijan with 69,870 seats and meets the standards of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
Construction of Baku Olimpics Stadium finished on 6 March 2015, and at the same month used for Baku 2015 1st European Games. It is the main stadium of Azerbaijan National Football Team. Also, the stadium hosted several Champions League matches during 2017-2018 season. A.S. Roma (Italy), Atlético Madrid (Spain) and Chelsea F.C. (England) played against Qarabağ F.K. (Azerbaijan) in the group stages of the most prestigious club competition in European football.
