Carpe Diem: A day in Perast & Kotor

2 minutes to read

My favorite part of Montenegrin coast is definitely Kotor Bay! Stone beaches, sea surrounded by high mountains, Kotor, the most interesting coastal city and Perast, one-street town with its two pearls - the isles St George and Our Lady of the Rocks.

My free weekends are always reserved for St Stasije, a place between Kotor and Perast, half an hour away from both sites. From here, the perfect day would begin with a drive to Perast, and with a breakfast in some of the restaurants placed just next to the sea. And then, what else could be better than a boat ride to the mesmerizing island of Our Lady of The Rocks. I was there over dozens of times, but it is always interesting to come again and wander around.

From here, I like to continue to Bajova kula, a small beach with cute restaurant under the shades of bushy trees. I enjoy spending my day here, having sea food for lunch or just ordering a drink and reading a book. Nearby places - Orahovac and Ljuta, have their beaches with its own, specific charisma.

When staying at St Stasija I usually spend evenings in Kotor. The city is full of events during whole year. Bars and cafes are full of people and you can enjoy listening local bands playing rock, jazz or blues music.

The nights in Kotor can be very romantic and peaceful. You can easily get lost inside the town as the streets are intertwined and all similar to each other. But there is nothing bad in getting lost. It is actually the best way to discover new and beautiful sites. Right?

So, that's maybe the best advice I can give to someone who are visiting Kotor. Pack your map back in your pocket, forget about plans and directions... and get lost!
