50 shades of green of Šibenik

2 minutes to read

I have already introduced you to Šibenik, the city of fortresses, but, I want to tell you even more, as the seaside around this city is one of my favorite parts of Croatian coastline. I want to tell you about 50 shades of green of this beautiful little city in the heart of Dalmatia.

Historically, Šibenik has always been in the shadow, as it is surrounded by bigger and more famous cities such as Split and Zadar. But in the past few years, it's waking up and starts to defy with its colorful sights. Šibenik is a symbol of natural beauty, as it is on the border of two national parks - Krka and Kornati. You can just imagine how picturesque is the area around the city.

If you are more into an active holiday, you should go for cycling around Šibenik. There is a very good connection of bike routes, and if you are in good physical condition, you can reach the Krka River and go sightseeing all the way to the Krka National Park.

You can make a short stop in Skradin, a little town that is very interesting because of its position. Everywhere you go, you will enjoy wonderful nature creations. If you go the opposite way of Krka River, towards Konjevrate, and turn left, you will find yourself in a small village - Goriš. A walk through this place will bring you to the viewpoint from where you will see Torak Lake. This lake looks like as if it is there only for you to be amazed by what nature can create, and it is an inexhaustible source of drinking water for the surrounding places.

If you are more into sort of Robinson Crusoe's adventures, take your rudder towards the Kornati Islands. Find your peace in the untouched nature and spend a day sailing between the uninhabited islands. Pick an island. Would it be Murter, Prvić, Zlarin, Kaprije, Kakan, Žirje or another one of around 1000 smaller islands, you will have a hard choice to make.
