''The Norsemen'' or ''Vikingane'' is a Norwegian TV-show that depicts the Scandinavian Viking age in a humorous way. We've all seen the seriousness of the TV-show 'the Vikings' and all kinds of documentaries and facts about them. This show on the other hand, comes along and makes us laugh out loud because a lot of the things they did are humorous and there are quite a few double standards that are always fun to joke about in retrospect. The creators say they want to use real Norwegian Viking villages. Being natural and real is a big part of the show. You could call the show candid in every way by also considering the type of humor that is depicted. To use just a few places to film also reduces logistic troubles as a lot of locations are not needed.
Bukkøy Viking village is the main filming location for the show. Quite a few peninsulas in Norway are called Bukkøy. This Bukkøy is the one in Avaldsnes close to Haugesund. The thing is that they are moving to a different location in the future seasons. Still, this is where they filmed the first part of the Viking show.

In the Viking farm, you may visit Langhuset, Rundhuset, Grophuset and Leidangernaustet. The Norwegian Viking king had a court created in this area. The possibility to learn some Viking crafts is available. Learn to shoot with arrows, work like a Viking, and eat like a Viking. I didn't pay anything to enter, and you don't have to either. By the way, Avaldsnes was the first royal throne of Norway.
Njardarheimr in Gudvangen, Sogn is a Viking village and its location is probably going to be used in the next seasons of the show. The village has big mountains surrounding it and when the clouds go down on the mountains, they make the place look very 'movie like'. Those things are considered good for a Viking TV-show. Anders Tangen is the producer who is taking these kinds of decisions and previously made the show Lilyhammer with the famous guy from 'the Sopranos' called Steven Van Zandt.
