Theater Putbus

Description

In the 180 years that the theater Putbus has experienced, There were many forms of play. For the longest time, it was leased to theater directors for a summer, whose ensemble made theater holidays at the head office and earned something in the summer here. After the Second World War, an ensemble of performers who had gone to war on the island, together with talented amateurs their luck on stage. The revenue was not enough to survive. From 1952 to 1968 it was the first time an own ensemble in Putbus. Acting, operetta, opera and even ballet were on the board. Since that time, Putbus is known to theater lovers. Thereafter, the Stralsund Theater, Greifswald were merged and later the ensemble in Putbus completely dissolved. Side trips of the theater Stralsund formed in the following years the main part of the offer. Since the reconstruction (1992-1998) only guest performances take place. In 2006 Theater Putbus merged with Theater Vorpommern GmbH, which also operates the theaters in Greifswald and Stralsund.
