Description

One of the most beautiful and peaceful parts of Cáceres, the Old Jewish Quarter was once home to the Jewish community of Cáceres. It is believed that the Jews arrived here during Muslim rule of the city (711 - 1229) and that shortly after the Christians invaded, segregation laws led to high concentrations of Jewish people living in this neighbourhood, giving rise to what we now call the Old Jewish Quarter. Here you will find narrow and cobbled streets, slient squares, small whitewashed houses once inhabited by Jewish families, moorish towers, a former synagogue and more; an absolute must when visiting Cáceres. © Adam L.
