"Andrei Mureşanu" Theater in Sfântu Gheorghe is a public performance institution and the main organizer of cultural events for the Romanian minority community in the area. It is financed by the Local Council of St. George. TAM was founded on April 12, 1987, at the desire of the communist authorities to have a Romanian theater section in Sfântu Gheorghe. At present, it divides the space in which it operates with the "Tamási Áron" Theater, the Hungarian theater in the same locality, the Theater of Movement "Studio M" and the "Háromszék" Ensemble of Dances. The "Andrei Mureşanu" Theater operates in a cultural space bilingual, the theater community consisting of Romanian (30%) and Hungarian (70%) spectators. Andrei Mureşanu Theater has been invited to major European theater festivals such as Leipzig (Germany), Nitra (Slovakia), Zsámbék (Hungary), Trabzon (Turkey), Tampere (Finland), Bern (Switzerland) , Faro (Portugal), Varna (Bulgaria), Edinburgh and collaborated with directors, set designers, composers, choreographers and actors of the highest quality, forming in time a highly professional artistic and technical team. His success is mainly related to the performances performed here by Radu Afrim (Alge, Three sisters, David's Boutique, By the hand, Lucia skates, First you are born), but he has always tried to help young actors, artists or creators, and launches his career at Sfântu Gheorghe.
