Theater PLAY's purpose is to act as a greenhouse and playground for professional actors, writers, directors, scenographers, comedians, musicians, etc. A vibrant and open scene where industry talents can develop and test new ideas in all aspects of performing arts. The setting of newly written or newly translated drama is prioritized. There are 1-2 own theater productions per. season, and in addition, there is a playground for guest games as widely as possible. The theater also serves as a café scene, so the year round is a varied range of events including standup and improcomedy. PLAY also runs the Amager Theater School, where children, young people and adults receive drama, song and standup / impro-comedy classes, and a course department that offers courses and events to business and staff groups. PLAY DOES NOT RECEIVE STATE AID - (in 13 years), and is run through ticket and bar revenue, the public's great support, voluntary labor, and management's indomitable willingness and hand-power. ON THE THEATER FRONT, we have had great success right from the start, with our newly written own productions, primarily aimed at a younger / adult and predominantly female audience, including comedy dramas: "Str. 42 "(2007) and" Stodder "(2009)," Stodder 2.0 "(2011)," Superwoman "(2014) and comedies like" Dario Fo's Women Monologues "(2006) and" My Fede Veninde "(2012). The guest games have primarily attracted the mature adult audience; blue. Also on the comedy scene, we have introduced the playground concept, and weekly, some of Denmark's most well-known comedians perform new material on the Plays scene. Also the successful language group SPECIALCLASS has hit the folder for many years, we often take new language groups. We are very aware of the importance of people having a good experience every time they visit PLAY. Our experience tells us that both the audience and the theater industry think it's exciting and needed to go somewhere and see the new faces, on an intimate scene where talent or lack of same can not be saved behind big scenes and 3D animations. But even though the tight economy often limits, for example. great scenography, great promotional campaigns and wild theater effects, we do not compromise on the quality of the stage material, and the performing artists we provide stage scene. PLAY was started in smaller premises in a warehouse in Njalsgade on Islands Brygge, but in January 2013, the entire bathing line moved to Strandlodsvej, where there are better conditions in every way. In August 2014, the theater celebrated its 10th anniversary. PLAY was founded in 2004 by actors Mille Berg and Mette Rye Iversen. Mette has searched for new pastures, so today the theater is run by Mille Berg, who has been teaching director Christina Sørensen since 2012.
