Founded in 1835 under the leadership of famous and controversial scientist Louis Agassiz, promoter of the glacial theory in Europe and leader of natural history in the United States in the nineteenth century, the Museum of Neuchatel now actively pursuing a triple mission: - Be a cultural partner for the promotion of a scientific culture through exhibitions; - Be a center for research in connection with the universities and other national centers such as the Swiss Centre for Fauna Cartography; - And be adequate conservation place for its rich scientific collections. The Museum is a department of the City of Neuchâtel.
