Description

The Memorial of the Resistance of São Paulo is an institution dedicated to the preservation of references of the memories of the resistance and political repression of republican Brazil (1889 to present) by means of the musealization of part of the building that was headquarters, during the period from 1940 to 1983 , of the State Department of Political and Social Order of São Paulo - Deops / SP, one of the most gruesome political police in the country, especially during the military regime. The Memorial of the Resistance is linked to the Pinacoteca of the State of São Paulo, a public and non-profit museum, and administered by the Art and Culture Pinacoteca Association, qualified as Social Organization of Culture. The museological program of the Memorial of the Resistance is structured in research, safeguard (documentation and conservation) and heritage communication (exhibition and educational-cultural action), oriented to thematic approaches on resistance, control and political repression, through six lines of action that, acting articulately, aim to make this institution a space for reflection and to promote actions that contribute to the exercise of citizenship, the improvement of democracy and the valorization of a culture in human rights. Programmatic lines of action: - Exhibition - Educational Action - Cultural Action - Memory Places - Regular Collection of Testimonies - Reference Center We are open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 6pm. Admission is free.
