The history of the Hotel Providência comes from a long time ago. In 1849 they arrived in Mariana-MG, twelve Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, as missionaries from France, at the request of the then Bishop of Mariana, Dom Antônio Ferreira Viçoso. They began their activities in serving the poor and in the education of children and youth. They founded the Providence College which, over time, received of internship, that come not only from Minas Gerais, but from other states of Brazil. In the 60's, the boarding school was decreasing and several spaces of the building were left unoccupied. Many ideas have arisen in the face of idleness on the part of the House and among them, transforming a part in HOTEL, whose income could help in the maintenance and maintenance of Providence College. In 1972, begins the dreamy HOTEL PROVIDENCE, welcoming the first guests. It is located in the Historic Center of the city of Mariana, in a privileged location, which allows the guest to get around on foot, visiting the most outstanding local sights; or by car, to places like Ouro Preto, Congonhas, Caraça and many others that also tell us the history of Minas and Brazil in the colonial period. For a better welcome to the guests, was carried out in 1999, a comprehensive renovation modernizing and at the same time retaining the traditional lines of the building, uniting tradition and modernity. The Hotel Providência has 22 apartments (single, double and triple) and 05 rooms, with capacity for 150 people, ideal for excursions of groups of young people and students. Breakfast is served in a buffet style with a wide variety of breads, cakes, biscuits, fruits, juices .. As a differential, it offers the Convention Center, equipped to meet the needs of various companies and groups. Its infrastructure has an auditorium with capacity for 200 people, upholstered chairs, stage, tables, sound, screen for projection and data - show.
