The museum originates from the Municipal Gallery of Contemporary Art, established in 1962, aiming to collect and exhibit the works acquired by the Municipality through the Arezzo Prize. After closure in the nineties, it was reopened in December 2003 in the new headquarters in Piazza San Francesco. It maintains a permanent collection and organizes temporary exhibitions of 20th-century and contemporary artists. © iStock / prizio
