Description

CinemaAttic started in an unmapped loft at the very heart of Scotland’s capital city Edinburgh. Chronologically speaking, its story goes back to 2008. Following his expertise in Film Studies, and purely stimulated by the passion for cinema, the Spanish founder and present director of CinemaAttic opened up a blog in the pursuit of giving way to thoughts and ideas as to create debate around, merely, independent cinema. Right before the blog was registered, he had already converted the mentioned loft, at the top of the flat where he lived, into a gathering spot where informal cinema nights were shaping up. There could not be better name for the blog –and the upcoming enterprise- than CinemaAttic, he understood. Content wise, however, the platform’s formative reason of being was the arguably shortage of Spanish cinema exhibited in cities like Edinburgh as CinemaAttic’s founder oversaw. Despite his original idea of working, as said, around the plural domain of independent cinema, such very sense of identity felt towards the cinema of his own country inextricably jeopardized this principle. Consequently thus, the choice of working just on Spanish cinema prevailed and an ethos was born. CinemaAttic's present evolution however looks up other industries like Iberian and Latin-American.
