This ancient castle was built by muslim invaders in the XII century and had been a scene of many battles, resulting in a shift of power along the medieval age that left the castle mostly destroyed (in combination with the earthquake of 1755). In 1910 the castle was named a National Momument, and works on its restoration were issued. Today, this landmark is visited by many on a daily basis and is the center of Torres Novas' renaissance fair.
