Description

The Church Heritage Museum is an institution founded and maintained by the Archdiocese of Vilnius and aimed at presenting the most valuable part of the church heritage to the Lithuanian society and guests of Vilnius in an appropriate manner, without prejudice to works and local sacrament. The museum consists of three exhibitions: the treasury of the Vilnius Archdiocese churches, protected and exhibited by St. Archbishop of St. Michael's Church and the premises of the former Chernobyl monastery (St. Mykolas St. 9, Vilnius), the underground and bell-tower of Vilnius Cathedral (Cathedral a. 2, Vilnius). The works of art and celebrations exhibited, preserved, presented and exhibited in the Church Heritage Museum are the best witnesses of the history of the Archbishopric of the Republic of Lithuania, reporting on the greatest achievements of art in the past, cultural and artistic ties with Western Europe. The works reveal the changing history of Lithuania and the Church marked by dramatic events, the change of the religious life of our country, the devotion and subtle artistic taste of the people who created them.
