Anjos70, a Market for Everyone

3 minutes to read

Amongst the many fairs and sales you can find in Lisbon, no other will be as talked about as the Anjos70 market! An old place with a modern taste. This market is especially designed for the hip/retro crowd, but is also perfect for those looking for cool art and some nice snacks!

Anjos70

The space which is now known as Anjos70 isn’t unfamiliar with markets and fairs. It used to held the Feiras das Almas, and much like that previous incarnation, the Anjos70 market is a monthly gathering of artists, designers, cooks ands much more (held every first Saturday of each month). Its located in Regueirão, a street in the center of the neighborhood of Anjos, which can be difficult to find on the first visit but its “Lisboness” is undeniable!

The market is its main attraction since it managed to maintain the fans of the previous fair, but the association behind it all, the Núcleo Recreativo do Regueirão, holds many other events, like film screenings, workshops, concerts and much more! Be sure to keep and eye on them!

The Main Floor

Though sometimes the layout of the sellers change, they do follow a sort of themed pattern. On the main floor, right when you enter, you’ll be greeted by the clothing and merchandising stands, with anything from hand-crafted pieces to second-hand shops. It’s also here where you can find many accessories, such as rings, pins, or earrings, and some merchandised goods, like toys or t-shirts. To discover what some of these stands have is a great experience just by itself. This floor is the largest, and it’s organized sort of like a labyrinth some times.

The Top Floor

On the top floor is where most of the artists, designers and craftsmen are! A plethora of original content, fan art, decors, posters and much more. This one is a personal favorite, and you can find some artists really eager to make their work known and even strike a conversation!

The Bar Area

The part is mostly dedicated to food! Besides the bar, which has a vegan menu, there are many stands with homemade goods. You can count on awesome eco-friendly products like sweet/spicy jams, vegan cheeses (which I previously didn’t even know existed, and now I can attest to its verisimilitude), healthy cakes and a wonderful tea stand. The latter I can’t recommend enough, and I don’t even like tea all that much! The lady that makes them is the sweetest and always speaks in rhymes! (though it is funnier in portuguese I suppose…)
