A Fun Day In Lyon

Lyon is one of my most favorite cities in France. The most special thing about the city is its cuisine - do you know that Lyon is the "gastronomy capital" of France? But that is not all. Lyon also has the most entertaining miniature museum ever.

Lyon was like a Little Paris without the crowds and tourist scams. And kindness was something I most remembered about Lyon. The bus driver was so kind to let me ride for free as I did not have change. A stranger was so helpful he asked another stranger to change a 20 note for me because I did not speak French. At the last stop, the bus driver asked where I wanted to go and gave me directions. And all of them smiled at me!

That was the very good start of my fantastic day in Lyon last summer. Not only did I get to see some of the highlights of the city like the magnificent Notre Dame de Fourviere and the Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste but I also visited a hidden gem of the city: Musee Miniature et Cinema (the Miniature and Theater Museum). I found this museum while wandering in the Vieux Lyon, the Old Town of Lyon. Since I was a former film student, the museum reminded me how much I used to love the cinema and its magical world.

I loved French pastries so much I could not resist buying some. Actually, I came to France just to eat pastries because I thought they were the best ones in the world! My Airbnb was near the famous market Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse. I got a coffee eclair and a pistachio macaron from Maison Claude in the market. They were delicious as expected!

Lyon is one of those cities that I would not hesitate to come back. Many interesting places in Lyon I did not have enough time to visit included The Musée Gadagne, Opéra Nouvel, and Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon.
