Where to eat Japanese in Brussels: Sakagura restaurant

2 minutes to read

Spring is finally here and Summer is just around the corner, which automatically means lighter cuisine, with more fresh fruits and veggies, fish and rice. An instant association to lighter food is rich and delicious Japanese cuisine, based on rice, miso soup, fish, seafood, sashimi, sushi pickled vegetables, and vegetables cooked in broth. In case none of this pumps up your appetite, Japanese cuisine has more decadent things to offer such as deep-fried seafood and vegetables, noodles and meat-based dishes such as tonkatsu. Hungry yet? Allow me to present you the most delicious domburi and edamame in Brussels, which you can find only at Sakagura restaurant.

Located at the very heart of Brussels, in the city center, not far from the Grand Place and shopping streets, Sakagura Japanese restaurant is a perfect little hidden gem. The restaurant is rather small and cosy, giving you a sense of warmth yet the clean, white interior really makes you feel as if you arrived in Japan. The place is a great option for a nice, calm lunch which will definitely brighten your busy day. In case you decide to take a seat during lunch time, be aware that it is most often very crowded, which testifies to the deliciousness of the cuisine. Therefore, the ideal thing would be to arrive slightly before the lunch crowd a keep a table for you and your friends. You can also try to call in advance and book a table.

Apart from the rich lunch and dinner menu of Sakagura restaurant, including decadent rice bowls with tuna, salmon, eel and fried vegetables, edamame, gyoza, tempura and many others, Sakagura restaurant has the most amazing daily take out menu, which is extremely convenient for people who are working nearby. Every day, you can check the Sakagura restaurant website  and see the updated daily take away lunch menu, consisting either of don of the day (big rice bowl with different combinations of fish and chicken and vegetables) or bento of the day (lunch box). What is even better is that Sakagura always has the freshly prepared bowl ready for you. The best part? The price of the don of the day is only 6 euros! And trust me, portions are so large than you may want to leave some for tomorrow.
