What not to miss in Trogir?

As I promised in my previous text about Trogir, I have so much more to show you at this amazing Adriatic destination. After visiting the St. Lawrence Cathedral and the Fortress Kamerlengo, there are a few more places left to be explored in this tiny Dalmatian town, that will make you fall in love with Trogir. So, let’s start our tour on what not to miss in Trogir!

The Central Square

It would be appropriate to start the tour from the Central Square. Everything you need is here! Dating back to Roman times, the square is now a place where you can enjoy a coffee and a lunch during the day, or cocktails and great dinners during the evening. St. Sebastian Church is a real jewel of this place. It was built in 1482, in memory of people who died because of the plague twenty years earlier. On top of its tower, there is a Renaissance clock, one of the very symbols of Trogir. In the evening, you can enjoy romantic moments on the square, filled with traditional Croatian songs, performed by acapella singers.

The Duke’s Palace

The Duke’s Palace or the City Hall from the 13th century is located on the Central Square, next to the St. Lawrence Cathedral. There, you can see the Lion of St. Mark, a remarkable symbol of the Venetian Republic.

The Museum of Sacred Art

The Museum of Sacred Art is located in the Baroque building from the 18th century, next to the St. Sebastian Church. In this museum, you can see illuminated manuscripts together with Bellini’s St. Jerome and St. John the Baptist, and so much more.

The Grand Cipiko Palace

Across the square, opposing the Cathedral, you can see the Grand Cipiko Palace, home of one of the most prominent families in Trogir during the 15th century - Cipiko family. Thanks to the amazing work of the architect Andrija Aleši, it has unique Gothic windows. Unfortunately, this palace is not open to the public, but there is enough space to admire it from the outside.

Trogir’s promenade

There is much more to see and experience in Trogir, besides chasing the past times. Go for a walk along Trogir’s promenade and pick your favorite café, bar or yacht. Enjoy all those lights on a warm, summer, Adriatic night.
