The top 3 spots in Nur-Sultan to listen to live music

4 minutes to read

As a huge fan of delicious food and listening to live music, I would like to share with you the best local places for dining and listening to the soothing sounds while in Kazakhstan's capital city. Here are my top 3 spots of Nur-Sultan city to listen to live music

The Shoreditch

A little piece of London's finest pub, the Shoreditch, found its spot in Nur-Sultan's city centre. It is one of the most famous bars and cafes in the town since 2015. The Shoreditch is located in the right bank of the city and is famous for its gourmet-burgers and live music. The cafe is designed in a mixed style, combining modern and loft elements. In some corners, you can watch the soccer game or boxing in cosy sofas that fit about 6-7 people. There are two types of halls inside the café - for smokers and non-smokers. Smoking area in this café is only suitable for hookah and electronic cigarettes. So, please make sure you are smoking regular cigarettes outside of the building.

Music

When the music starts, you will definitely notice how guests turn their heads in search of the beautiful voice that covers the whole place. Many guests, including me, come here to listen to live music. The music band performs popular western songs, and it sounds just amazing! For music lovers, the best time to visit the place is from 8 pm to 11 pm. Sometimes the Shoreditch invites DJs and announces about their performances on their Instagram profile.

Cuisine

This place offers burgers that make you say “yummy”. The cuisine of the Shoreditch is diverse, as they have both Asian and European cuisines. There are also some options for vegetarians. So, any person can find something suitable in the menu. My personal favourite thing about this place is that they have exclusive promotion days. On Mondays, they serve all burgers for the special price of KZT 1900. On Tuesdays, the hookah costs 50% less - only KZT 4000. Wednesdays are enjoyable for cocktail lovers, as all of them cost KZT 1000 only.

The Balcon Restaurant

This place differs from the other two because it is located at the Alanda Hotel. From the first steps inside, you will feel like the long-anticipated guest. The Balcon Restaurant reigns in the spirit of the Venetian style, where you can have a tasty meal with a view of the city while enjoying live music.

Music

Another significant difference of this place is that the music never stops here. It seems like the muses of ancient Greek mythology patronise the place and fulfil it with live music. Mondays are the violin days, the piano is reserved for Wednesday, while on Thursdays and Saturdays you can enjoy the saxophone. What about Tuesdays and Fridays? The X-Factor Ukrainian contestant named Ostap performs songs for the guests. The time for live music on weekdays is from 8 pm to 11 pm and on weekends from 10 am to 1 pm. On Sundays, music plays from the morning till lunchtime; and in the evenings, beautiful piano sounds will cover the stage and conquer your heart.

Cuisine

Being in the heart of Central Asia, here you can dive into the depths of European cuisine. The meals on the menu will cost around KZT 6000-7000. In Astana, it is preferable to reserve tables in restaurants in advance to make sure you will be seated upon your arrival.

The Sheff Bar & Kitchen

Another loft-style restaurant atypical for the busy Kazakh capital. This place attracts guests not only with its concept, but also with the best view of the city's symbol Baiterek tower, live music, but also rich cuisine! This is a place where you can quietly and calmly sit and listen to the vocalist’s singing, and even dance to the DJ mixes on specific days.

Music

On Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the singers of the Sheff Bar & Kitchen will brighten up your evening with live music from 11 pm to 2 am. These days are best for a calm and cosy evening with friends. However, this is not the only option you could have when it’s about music. There are fun events on Friday nights here, when the DJ makes everyone dance, shake, and jive. Imagine that the whole dance floor is all yours!

Cuisine

This is the right place to dine with live music for those who prefer to stick to European cuisine and stay closer to the main tourist destinations. This place also can offer you authentic cuisine, which you might find creative. In Kazakhstan, there is a saying “Wednesday is a little Friday”, so many places offer special promotions on Wednesdays. In many places, this special day of the week is called cocktail day and the Sheff Bar & Kitchen; all the cocktails cost KZT 999. Apart from that, ladies shall be extra happy, because the bar is treating ladies with welcome drinks on Fridays, absolutely free of charge. The spot also offers special fruit hookah. The service in the café is at its highest level, which makes me give one more star to the place. The average price of your visit will be between KZT 5000 to 7000.

This is was my suggestion of the top 3 spots for dining and listening to live music in Nur-Sultan. Diverse and tasty cuisine, soothing rhythms and fair prices make these bars and restaurants great places for every visitor.
