History of Sofiyivka Park 

Sofiyivka Park is considered a true landscape masterpiece from the late 18th century. It covers an area of nearly 180 hectares. The history of the park is very romantic. In 1796, the Polish magnate Stanislav Potocki founded this green space in honor of Sofia, his beautiful Greek wife. This parc was her birthday present, which he gave her in May 1802. In fact, the idea of ​​creating this place belonged to Sofia. Sofiyivka Park is made in a very romantic style with many elements from Roman and Greek mythologies. Stanislav Potocki spent about 15 million Polish zloty on building this park.

A precious project

Sofiyivka Park was a precious project. A considerable number of exotic plants have been imported from all over the world. The artificial swimming pools were also made, as well as an underground river and waterfalls. Today, in this park, you can also see artificial rocks and caves. It took six years to develop this incredible oasis of beauty.

Many artificial basins and lakes have been constructed here such as the Upper Dam, the Lower Dam, waterfalls, floodgates, cascades and the Aheronto underground river. Today, in addition to trips to the park and museum, you can take a boat or a catamaran on the underground river, ride a horse or rent a horse-drawn carriage.
