History

It may sound shocking now, but at the end of the 1950s, a lot of people were in favor of the idea to demolish the Old Town because it was considered that renovating the old houses was too difficult and pointless. By the year 1962, there was even a project ready to demolish old houses and build high business buildings instead. But luckily, the Tallinn Old Town was preserved and is now the biggest pride of Estonia. In the 1980s, it was a difficult time for Estonia, as it was occupied by the Soviet Union. Therefore, it was difficult to organize something like Old Town Days, but thanks to active people, the event was preserved, and this year, it is organized for the 38th time.

Tallinn Old Town Days, in the end of May - beginning of June, offer plenty of activities to locals, tourists, kids, grownups, elderly and everyone who wants to enjoy a beautiful day in the Old Town of Tallinn.
