Location

For those who visit Bucharest, Romania’s capital, for the first time, the center of the city seems to be the focal point of what it has to offer. The truth is that one doesn’t have to venture so close to the city center to come across memorable places. The northern part of the city is where Miorița fountain can be found and where the capital offers a sightseeing combo of afternoon delights, which even the most demanding tourists will enjoy.

This area of the capital is also known for Therme, a large wellness spa, built close to the Henri Coandă Airport. To get to the spa is very easy, one simply has to take a free shuttle bus from the city center. Therme’s location is ideal for travelers who come to Romania by airplane since it's only five minutes away by car from the airport. There are supermarkets in the area of Therme, as well as many lodging options.

The main areas

Because not everyone coming to Therme seeks the same thing, the spa offers different areas to suit all needs. Perhaps the most enjoyed part of the resort by adults is the Palm area. As you may have guessed by the name, the indoor and outdoor pools here are surrounded by around 500 palm trees. What’s unique about this side of the spa is that the roof is retractable and visitors get to see the sky while they swim and enjoy their drinks. The Palm area also contains mineral pools, a jacuzzi, and a rainforest steam room. Walking through these palm trees and seeing all the vegetation is truly like walking through a tropical forest.

The area most suited for pampering is called the Elysium. This is where adults can relax in one of the six saunas, enjoy massages, or bathe in an exceptional panoramic pool of zinc and selenium, which is said to do wonders for one’s health. Therme also has a particular area for kids and the whole family, called the Galaxy. This is where the action happens. The 16 water slides and the indoor wave pool guarantee fun for the entire family. There is even a sandy beach where kids can feel like they’re at the seaside.

Experience Therme

If you need a little extra push to visit Therme, then know that there are many reasons why tourists make this spa the regular destination on their travels. The interior design of the place will make you feel like you’re in a luxurious place, even though the prices are far from high. The water temperature in the pools is around 33 degrees (a little more in the pools for children), and the air temperature throughout the spa is between 29 and 30 degrees. This makes the resort a year-round perfect spot for relaxing. In Therme, one can see over 800.000 plants, many colorful orchids, and palm trees galore. The spa is making each day of the week unique for its visitors, and there is the activity program listed on their website. For example, Thursday is a hydro-balance day in the pool. This gathers a lot of people interested in exercising in a fun way in the water.
