Exploring the Marmore Waterfall

1 minutes to read

Ok, let’s say you are traveling through Italy. I am confident enough to say you have planned some days to spend in Rome, from four to six I’d say. You know that possibly these days would turn out to be intense, many things to do like walking, visiting, stopping by that cool place, and so on. My advice is to schedule a half-day trip in the middle of your staying to reset for some hours and enjoy some nature.

Marmore waterfall is a place with these characteristics. An hour and half away from Rome you will find the tallest man-made waterfall in the World, surrounded by a stunning wild landscape. Built by the Romans the waterfall, that now serves in a hydroelectric power plant, is located in the beautiful valley of the Nera river and is surrounded by a park where the Mediterranean vegetation stands out.

The park offers five different trekking paths to explore the waterfall and the valley. These paths have different degrees of difficulty. From the one that goes just go around the waterfall, to some more challenging with caves and steep slopes. Walking on these paths while hearing the water pouring down is something you shouldn’t miss. And if you are looking for something more exciting this place got you covered. Plenty of rafting and kayaking is practiced on the rivers by the waterfall’s side. Last advice: bring a raincoat!
