Asturias

A northern region of Spain, known for its humid and mild climate, and which has the status of a principality....

Its countryside of mountains and lakes, as well as its many lookouts over the Atlantic Ocean, are simply sublime.\n\nThe coast is varied, with alternating beaches, inlets and the occasional mountain dropping sheer into the ocean.\n\nLike the border regions in the north of Spain, it features lush vegetation, sites of prehistoric cave art (the thousands grottoes of Asturia is an true underground treasure, unparalleled in the country), and monuments built in the High Middle Ages, like in the city of Oviedo (which host pre-Romanesque heritage sites) and Gijon.
