Umbria

A discrete region in the heart of Italy, Umbria is often wrongfully relegated to second rank – from a tourism point of view – behind its big sister, Tuscany....

Yet it is hardly lacking in major assets. Cultivating a slow pace of life far from the effervescence of the more heavily tourist areas, Umbria is a region of hills and countryside that make it the 'green lungs' of Italy. Little medieval towns like Assisi (home of the famous saint) and Orvieto, as well as its capital, Perugia, offer much of cultural interest to all visitors.
