Western Macedonia

The region of Western Macedonia is situated in north-western Greece, bordering the regions of Central Macedonia (east), Thessaly (south), Epirus (west), and bounded to the north at the international borders of Greece with the Republic of Macedonia and Albania....

The capital of the region is Kozani, a city full of museums about the Greek folks or Macedonia, and even about the history of the nature in the region. The architecture and parks of the city are also quite impressive. The region is full of lakes that you can explore on a sunny day with the most famous ones the Kastoria lake and Ladon Lake. This last one is the biggest artificial lake that the country has. Additionally, the north of the region has some small mountains that are pleasing to walk through. During the winter the north of the region is covered in snow and ski stations are open to public.
