The biggest island of those islands is Fasta Aland. The capital of the region is the coast city of Mariehamn, which has a really famous maritime quarter with a maritime museum. There is also an old commercial boat witch is today a museum, the Pommern. At the north of Mariehamn you will find the Kastelholm and old Swedish castle. But also a Russian fortress, the fortress of Bomarsund, built for the Crimean war (1834-1850). Remember that the region’s islands are appropriate for some treks and bathing.
