Åland Islands

Aland Island is a region located in the south west of the country. It’s an archipelago province in the gulf of Bothnia and the Baltic sea....

The biggest island of those islands is Fasta Aland. The capital of the region is the coast city of Mariehamn, which has a really famous maritime quarter with a maritime museum. There is also an old commercial boat witch is today a museum, the Pommern. At the north of Mariehamn you will find the Kastelholm and old Swedish castle. But also a Russian fortress, the fortress of Bomarsund, built for the Crimean war (1834-1850). Remember that the region’s islands are appropriate for some treks and bathing. Don’t forget to enjoy the silence of the countryside.
